Lubumbashi, July 31, 2026 (TOP243NEWS) –
Following his visit to Haut-Lomami Province, the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, arrived in Lubumbashi, the capital of Haut-Katanga Province, on Friday as part of his ongoing tour of the Greater Katanga region.
The Head of State was welcomed by political and administrative authorities, elected officials, as well as a large crowd of supporters and residents. His visit is focused on strengthening governance, enhancing security, and consolidating state institutions.
One of the key highlights of the visit will be President Tshisekedi’s chairing of an expanded Security Council meeting bringing together senior officials from the provinces that were created following the division of the former Greater Katanga Province.
The high-level meeting will assess the regional security situation, review peace consolidation efforts, and address stability challenges in this strategically important part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The presidential agenda also includes a series of meetings with local dignitaries, national and provincial lawmakers, senators, and representatives of civil society. Discussions will focus on major development priorities, governance challenges, and measures aimed at improving the living conditions of the people of Haut-Katanga.
On the infrastructure front, President Tshisekedi is scheduled to inaugurate the new Lubumbashi Palace of Justice and a modern hospital, two major public facilities expected to strengthen access to justice and improve healthcare services across the province.
This latest stage of the presidential tour reflects the Head of State’s commitment to closely monitoring the implementation of public policies, assessing the needs of the provinces, and accelerating strategic development projects that support the country’s national development agenda.
