Kinshasa, Aug. 11, 2026 (TOP243NEWS).- Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo is expected in Kinshasa on Tuesday to officially launch construction work on the future Étienne Tshisekedi Boulevard, a new road project aimed at improving mobility in the capital.
The launch ceremony is scheduled to take place at the intersection of Avenue de la Libération and Triomphal Boulevard, where preparations are underway ahead of the president’s arrival.
The new road, which will be approximately 2,074 metres long, is expected to extend Triomphal Boulevard to Bakayau Square in the Bandalungwa municipality. It will provide a direct link between several major roads in Kinshasa and improve access to this part of the capital.
The project is part of broader efforts to modernize Kinshasa’s road infrastructure, as the city faces increasing pressure on its transport network due to rising traffic and rapid urban expansion.
The construction of the boulevard is expected to contribute to efforts to ease traffic congestion, improve travel between different parts of the capital and strengthen urban connectivity.
Tshisekedi’s arrival at the site is expected to mark the transition from the preparatory phase to the official start of construction.
For the authorities, the project also underscores the government’s continued investment in urban infrastructure as Kinshasa seeks to improve mobility and living conditions for its growing population.
