LUBUMBASHI, Democratic Republic of Congo, Aug. 5 (TOP243NEWS) – The head of the Anti-Fraud Brigade in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Haut-Katanga province said on Wednesday that an award he received from the Fatshi Digital Army would encourage him and his team to continue efforts to combat fraud and improve public revenue collection.
Speaking at an award ceremony in Lubumbashi, Provincial Director Philippe Kibawa said he was « deeply moved » by the recognition, describing it as unexpected.
The Anti-Fraud Brigade, a provincial government service, works with public revenue agencies to help maximize government revenue and combat tax, mining, economic and petroleum-related fraud.
Kibawa said the agency’s work requires constant vigilance because of the complexity of the offenses it investigates.
He dedicated the award to Haut-Katanga Governor Martin Kazembe Shula and to the officers of the Anti-Fraud Brigade, saying their efforts contribute to the province’s public revenue mobilization.
Kibawa also urged young Congolese to act responsibly and resist manipulation, saying they have an important role to play in the country’s development.
He paid tribute to President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo for what he described as efforts to promote peace, stability and governance, which he said are essential for the effective functioning of public institutions.
The ceremony was organized by the Fatshi Digital Army, coordinated by Adji Eric Israël, a civic group that recognizes individuals for their contributions and performance in various areas of public life.
