DRC:Jacquemain Shabani Hands Over the 2026 Political Year Ministerial Directive to Political Parties

Kinshasa, August 4, 2026 (TOP243NEWS) – The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Security, Decentralization and Customary Affairs, Jacquemain Shabani Lukoo Bihango, on Tuesday in Kinshasa officially presented the 2026 Political Year Ministerial Directive to leaders of political parties and coalitions from both the ruling majority and the opposition.

The ceremony, organized by the General Secretariat in charge of Relations with Political Parties, forms part of the government’s institutional consultation framework with political organizations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, the directive aims to strengthen continuous institutional dialogue among political stakeholders and reinforce the foundations of Congolese democracy in accordance with the Constitution and the laws of the Republic.

In his address, Deputy Prime Minister Jacquemain Shabani emphasized the responsibility of political parties in safeguarding national unity.

He stressed that differences of opinion, which are inherent to democratic debate, should never undermine national cohesion or the supreme interests of the Republic.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to outline the main priorities of the 2026 Political Year Ministerial Directive.

The document notably reiterates the legal obligations applicable to political organizations, as well as the principles of good governance, transparency, and respect for the legal framework governing political life in the DRC.

Through this initiative, the Ministry of the Interior seeks to promote a political environment based on dialogue, respect for state institutions, and stability, at a time when the authorities continue to reaffirm their commitment to strengthening the democratic process and the rule of law.
