Kinshasa, July 17, 2026 (TOP243NEWS) – President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo of the Democratic Republic of the Congo announced on Friday at the Cité de l’Union africaine the forthcoming launch of an inclusive, peaceful and resolutely republican national dialogue, describing it as a new step toward strengthening national cohesion, preserving institutional stability, and consolidating peace.
The announcement came following a meeting with representatives of the country’s leading religious denominations, at a time when the Congolese authorities are stepping up initiatives aimed at promoting national unity in response to the political, security and social challenges facing the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Speaking on behalf of the religious delegation, Cardinal Fridolin Ambongo welcomed the President’s initiative, saying it reflects the aspirations of the Congolese people for greater dialogue and national harmony.
« We welcome this announcement and express our gratitude to the Head of State, » the Cardinal said.
According to Cardinal Ambongo, the initiative demonstrates President Tshisekedi’s commitment to advancing peace, strengthening national cohesion, and reinforcing the country’s unity, while ensuring that the forthcoming dialogue remains firmly anchored in respect for the institutions of the Republic and the Constitution.
The meeting brought together senior religious leaders, including Archbishop André Bokundoa, President of the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC); Archbishop Ejiba Yamapia of the Revival Church of Congo (ERC); Sheikh Abdallah Mangala, representing the Muslim Community; Bishop Donatien Nshole, Secretary General and spokesperson of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO); and Pastor Éric Senga, spokesperson for the ECC.
Through this initiative, the Presidency aims to establish an inclusive framework for consultation capable of strengthening peaceful coexistence, building trust among the country’s various social and political stakeholders, and fostering a political environment conducive to long-term stability and sustainable development.
