
Luanda, July 16, 2026 (TOP243NEWS) – President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, arrived in Luanda, Angola, on Thursday to participate in the third edition of the global initiative entitled « A Call for Peace, the End of Wars, and Respect for International Law. »
Ahead of the official opening of the summit, the Congolese Head of State held a one-on-one meeting with his Angolan counterpart, President João Lourenço, the host of the event.
The two leaders reviewed several issues of mutual interest, including the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Angola, the DRC’s presidency of the United Nations Security Council, and the evolving security situation in the eastern part of the country.
The DRC’s participation in the summit reflects Kinshasa’s commitment to advocating for stronger international mobilization in support of lasting peace based on respect for international law and states’ obligations.
Congolese authorities emphasized that peace cannot remain a matter of declarations alone but must be translated into concrete, measurable, and verifiable actions.
Held in Luanda from July 16 to 17, 2026, the international summit brings together political leaders, diplomats, and representatives of civil society to promote the peaceful resolution of conflicts.
The discussions also highlight the role of women, youth, and sport as key drivers of peacebuilding and conflict prevention.
Through his participation, President Félix Tshisekedi reaffirms the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s commitment to multilateralism, dialogue, and international initiatives aimed at strengthening regional and global stability.
