Kinshasa,July 14, 2026 (TOP243NEWS) – An urgent public warning has been issued following the circulation of phone numbers falsely claimed to belong to the Democratic Republic of the Congo’s Minister of Mines, Louis Watum Kabamba.
Members of the public, mining operators, institutional partners, and investors are urged to exercise the highest level of caution. Malicious individuals may be using fake phone numbers or impersonating the Minister in an attempt to solicit money, favors, or confidential information.
At this time, no personal phone number of the Minister has been officially made public. All communication with the Ministry of Mines should be conducted exclusively through official channels and authorized government services.
Anyone receiving phone calls, WhatsApp messages, or SMS messages claiming to be from the Minister is strongly advised to verify the authenticity of such communications before responding, never transfer money, and immediately report any suspected fraud or impersonation attempts to the relevant authorities.
TOP243NEWS also urges citizens not to share on social media any phone numbers attributed to public officials without proper verification, in order to prevent the spread of misinformation and reduce the risk of identity fraud.
