Kinshasa, Aug. 10, 2026 (TOP243NEWS).- The Congolese government, the Committee for the Monitoring of the Kinshasa City Expansion Project (CSSPEVK) and Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup signed a cooperation agreement on Monday aimed at accelerating the implementation of the capital’s expansion project, particularly its housing component.
The agreement brings together the expertise and resources of the three parties to support the development of new residential areas, ease overcrowding and provide Kinshasa residents with modern and adequate housing.
The project is part of efforts to address the challenges posed by the rapid urban growth of Kinshasa, one of Africa’s largest cities, while supporting the expansion and modernization of the capital.
Kinshasa Governor Daniel Bumba welcomed the agreement, describing it as an important step towards turning the city’s expansion project into reality.
He urged all stakeholders to move quickly and demonstrate strong commitment to translate the commitments made under the agreement into concrete projects on the ground.
Thierry Katembwe Mbala, coordinator of the CSSPEVK, reaffirmed the committee’s determination to monitor the project and contribute to its successful implementation.
Phuong Nguyen, CEO of Vingroup, said the company remained committed to carrying out the responsibilities assigned to it and contributing to improving living conditions for Kinshasa residents.
She also reaffirmed Vingroup’s willingness to support Kinshasa’s development ambitions, in line with the vision of President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi and the “Kinshasa Ezo Bonga” programme promoted by the provincial authorities.
The agreement comes as Kinshasa seeks to expand its infrastructure and housing capacity amid rapid urbanization and growing demand for residential space.
The next phase will focus on translating the commitments made by the three partners into concrete actions and advancing the various components of the city expansion project.
