DRC-Belgium: Aimé Boji Sangara Meets Bertin Mampaka to Discuss Parliamentary Cooperation

Kinshasa, August 11, 2026 (TOP243NEWS).- The President of the National Assembly of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Aimé Boji Sangara, met on Monday in Kinshasa with Bertin Mampaka, President of the Parliament of the Brussels-Capital Region, who is on a private visit to the DRC, for talks focused on strengthening parliamentary cooperation between the two countries.

Aimé Boji Sangara was accompanied by the Rapporteur of the National Assembly, Professor Jacques Djoli Eseng’ekeli. Discussions focused in particular on sharing experiences, modernizing legislative work and improving the functioning of parliamentary administrations.

Bertin Mampaka praised the efforts undertaken by the bureau of the Congolese National Assembly to strengthen the organization and efficiency of parliamentary work. He called for increased exchanges between the parliamentary institutions of the DRC and Belgium.

The security situation in eastern DRC was also discussed. The President of the Brussels-Capital Parliament recalled positions expressed by several Belgian parliamentary institutions condemning the offensives that led to the capture of Goma and Bukavu, while reaffirming their commitment to respecting the territorial integrity of the DRC.

Participants stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy in seeking peaceful solutions to crises and in bringing peoples closer together.

Jacques Djoli Eseng’ekeli, for his part, welcomed the initiative and encouraged the consolidation of relations between Congolese and Belgian parliamentary institutions.

The two sides also discussed the possibility of further structuring their cooperation in the political, diplomatic, economic and institutional fields.
