Kolwezi , June 26, 2026 (TOP243NEWS).-The Provincial Director of Sanitation and Manual Road Maintenance in Lualaba, Arcel Ndandula, has called for a profound transformation of waste management in the province during the official launch of the second edition of the Provincial Workshop of Key Stakeholders on Waste Management and Recycling, held in the presence of Governor Fifi Masuka Saini.
Addressing provincial authorities, national and provincial lawmakers, representatives of mining companies, technical and financial partners, and civil society organizations, Ndandula welcomed the progress achieved since the first edition of the workshop.
He highlighted major accomplishments, including the cleaning of drainage channels along the province’s main roads, the collection and disposal of waste, and the sanitation of public roads and open spaces. He also noted that several other resolutions are currently being implemented in line with the vision of the President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, which is being carried out in Lualaba under the leadership of Governor Fifi Masuka Saini.
According to the Provincial Director of Sanitation, this second edition represents a new milestone. “We must move beyond simple cleaning towards building a genuine waste transformation industry,” he said. He advocated for a scientific and technical approach to recycling, enabling waste—particularly plastic waste—to become a valuable raw material capable of generating added value and creating local jobs.
Ndandula also urged mining companies, development partners, and economic stakeholders to fully embrace their responsibility in developing a structured recycling sector that can position Lualaba as a model province in sanitation, innovation, and the circular economy.
