Kinshasa, August 18, 2026 (TOP243NEWS).- The Minister of Communication and Media and Government Spokesperson, Patrick Muyaya Katembwe, and the Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, in charge of Veterans Affairs, Éliezer Charmant Ntambwe TAMBWE Mposhi, co-hosted a special briefing in Kinshasa on Monday focused on pacification and the restoration of state authority in areas occupied by the Mobondo in the Grand Bandundu–Kongo Central–Kinshasa triangle.

Focusing on the security and political challenges facing the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), the press briefing notably addressed the efforts being undertaken by the Government to restore state authority and strengthen security in areas affected by Mobondo-related violence.

The briefing took place amid Kinshasa’s continued efforts on the military, diplomatic and political fronts, particularly regarding the security situation in the eastern part of the country. The Government also intends to strengthen national cohesion in response to what it describes as aggression by Rwanda and its allies.

During the meeting, Patrick Muyaya stressed the need to consolidate the domestic front, arguing that the national dialogue envisaged by the authorities should help bring political and social forces together around the defence of the DRC’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The Government spokesperson thus presented the dialogue as an instrument for national cohesion rather than as a platform for negotiations over the country’s territorial integrity. This position comes as President Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi is expected to announce, in the coming days, the date and framework of the dialogue.

On the security front, Minister Delegate to the Minister of National Defence, in charge of Veterans Affairs, Éliezer Charmant Ntambwe TAMBWE Mposhi, provided updates on the operational situation, as well as on measures being taken by the authorities to address the security challenges that continue to affect several parts of the country.

This government communication comes as the DRC is simultaneously seeking to maintain diplomatic pressure at the regional level. The 46th Ordinary SADC Summit opened on Monday in Durban, South Africa, with the security situation in eastern DRC among the key issues being raised by Kinshasa.

Through this briefing, the Government reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining regular communication with the public and the media on major national issues, particularly security, national cohesion, the restoration of state authority and diplomatic initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace.

The Ministry of Communication and Media also operates an official platform dedicated to government briefings, reflecting the authorities’ commitment to maintaining a regular framework for keeping the press informed about government action.
