Brazzaville, August 17, 2026 (TOP243NEWS).- Congolese senator from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and national president of the Alliance of Progressive Congolese (ACP), Gentiny Ngobila Mbaka, was honored on Sunday in Brazzaville with a Certificate of Merit awarded by the “+242” association, during a ceremony held on the sidelines of his stay in the Congolese capital.
According to the organizers, the distinction recognizes his commitment to strengthening ties between the peoples living on both banks of the Congo River, as well as his efforts toward social cohesion and development.
The presentation of the certificate took place amid a mobilization of Gentiny Ngobila’s supporters and sympathizers in Brazzaville. The ACP federation in the Congolese capital had announced a meeting for the same Sunday, featuring discussions and exchanges around the ideals of “Shared Progress,” a guiding principle promoted by the party.
Through this recognition, the “+242” association also seeks to highlight the historical, social and cultural ties that unite Kinshasa and Brazzaville, two capitals separated by the Congo River.
For Gentiny Ngobila, the distinction represents a token of recognition that contributes to efforts aimed at bringing the Congolese and Kinshasa communities closer together.
It comes at a time when relations between the two banks remain at the heart of several cooperation initiatives, particularly within the framework of the Special Commission for Cooperation between Kinshasa and Brazzaville (COSPECO), which Gentiny Ngobila previously chaired.
The August 16 ceremony was therefore both symbolic and civic in nature, highlighting the values of solidarity, dialogue and closeness between the two Congos.
