The Congolese Head of State is welcoming, in particular, his counterparts from the Republic of Congo, Denis Sassou N’Guesso, Burundi, Évariste Ndayishimiye, and the Central African Republic, Faustin-Archange Touadéra, for the ceremony dedicated to a decade of strategic training and reflection.

Established to strengthen the capacities of civilian and military officials in the fields of defence, security and strategy, CHESD has become a forum for reflection on national, regional and international security challenges.

Congolese authorities consider the institution an important tool for developing strategic expertise in support of the country’s sovereignty and stability.

The celebration comes against a regional backdrop marked by major security challenges, particularly in eastern DRC.
CHESD’s 10th anniversary therefore provides an opportunity to highlight the need for greater cooperation among African states and better anticipation of emerging threats.

During the ceremony, the various delegations are expected to discuss issues related to strategy, defence, security and regional cooperation. This high-level gathering is also expected to showcase the achievements of CHESD throughout its ten years of existence.

Last July, on the occasion of the institution’s 10th anniversary, Professor Jacques Djoli notably called on the DRC to develop a genuine strategic culture and strengthen its territorial, economic, technological and doctrinal sovereignty in the face of new forms of conflict.

Through this commemoration, Kinshasa is seeking to place strategic thinking at the heart of African responses to contemporary challenges, while further strengthening ties among the states of the region.
